Well, I asked for a volunteer to taste something. They didn't even know what they might be tasting, but so EAGER to do it!
Hannah R. went first and tasted a juicy, sweet apple. It barely touched her lips, and she knew exactly what it was!
Brady went second. He tasted a sour lime....LOVED it!
Jo Claire quickly identified a salty potato chip!
Emilia very hesitantly tasted a candy corn, but once she realized what it was and how sweet it was, she wanted another one!
All the students were then able to taste the apple, lime, potato chip and the candy corn.
We talked about how wonderful it is to have taste buds and to be able to smell, too! We also heard a whistle blow, a train whistle, a bell ring, and a can of pennies, and discussed how blessed we are to be able to hear. God created the world, and He created us with all of our senses to be able to see, hear, feel, taste, and smell.
We love Him!
It's not a bird or a plane, it is the sun! Relax........we did not look directly into the sun. We had been measuring a shadow every hour on the hour all day to watch how the shadow moved. We went out at 2:00 to measure the shadow and see how it had changed and moved, but the shadow was difficult to see because as we noticed, a cloud was covering the sun making it hard for us to see the shadow of the pencil on our paper.
We learned that the sun does not move. It is Earth that moves by rotating and revolving!
We started the letter "a" today learning how to write it and the sounds it makes. We worked on sounds/words the "e" and "a" make in our center time.
We also practiced the number "4" as well.
This was our "sundial." The pencil was stuck through the paper into the ground. The boys gathered the rocks to hold the edges of the paper down. We measured where the shadow moved every hour, and we took notice at the different lengths of the pencil shadow.
The kids are really looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Friday!
