JCA Day 28 CRITTERS!

We have had several students.....and Ms. Corrina.....and Bailie.....out with fever. So our first order of business today was to pray for everyone!
Our scripture for the month of September is John 3:16.
We have practiced it all month long!
Today, each student took a turn and recited it by themselves!
Every one of them knew it EXACTLY!
AND......they even know what it means broken down one line at a time.
They are the absolute brightest kids I've ever seen.....
Of course!
Can you recite ALL of John 3:16????
Some of them looked at the board.......but they can't read it!!! YET!
Brady was back today, and brought Henrietta. They had a super weekend together, and Henrietta came back with a superhero cape!!!
Today when we worked with numbers, we worked with our foam numbers.
We began to work on double digit numbers!
First, we put the numbers in order, and then we made numbers like.....
12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 21, 35.........
Today was also the day of "critters" that visited us. We had this sweet caterpillar who will turn into a beautiful butterfly! AND......THEN WE HAD A HARMLESS AND SMALL BULL SNAKE OUTSIDE! Not to worry.......called Ty and he came immediately and saved the day!!! Needlesstosay........things were a little WILD for a bit!
What can we say......country livin'!
Ms. Francis came today.....
Not sure.....but I think they were dancing and it was called.....
the tango!!!!
TOO cute!!!!

We reviewed the parable of the prodigal son today. For our purposes, it is called the Lost Son because we are studying the letter "L" this week.
We also really worked on letter sounds and sounding out letters making words!!!
It was EXCITING!

JCA Day 27

We played with frogs today. We sorted and counted little frogs, medium-size frogs and large frogs. We sorted sizes and colors. We counted the red ones, yellow ones, purple ones, green ones, and orange ones. We counted the total number of frogs, too! Lots of frogs!!
We watched the Veggie Tale movie, Jonah, today. We got very comfortable first!
God told Jonah to go to Ninevah and tell the people to turn from their wicked ways, but Jonah didn't want to go to Ninevah! He went to Tarshish instead, got in a storm, got kicked out of the ship, and ended up in the belly of a whale for three days. He came to his senses and told God he was sorry, and the whale spit him out on dry land! He did go on to Ninevah and told them God was going to destroy them if they did not repent and turn from their wicked ways. They, too, turned from their sins, and God did not destroy them....which made Jonah mad! He thought they needed to get what they deserved. BUT.....we learned that God is a God of second chances! He gave Jonah AND the people of Ninevah a second chance!
We need to give others a second chance as well, and when we need a second chance, we hope others will do the same for us.
More frog counting and sorting!
We used clay to make all of our vowels.......
in capitals and lower case.......
as well as.....the "T" and the "L", too.....
(Jo'Claire lost a front tooth!)
Modeling clay is ALOT of fun!
Sadie came today........
PE was fun with Duck, Duck, Goose.......
Passing the ball around......
Playing Ring Around the Rosie.....
Practicing our letters....

This week we are working on "L" and the number 7.

This morning in our Bible study, we talked about the Lost Son (Prodigal Son).....
He blew his inheritance, wanted to eat the slop the pigs were eating because he was SO hungry, went home to hopefully become one of his dad's hired hands.........And, to his surprise, his dad welcomed him home and threw him a party! This, of course, made the older brother angry because he had been there all along and had not left his father. His father told him that all he had would be his.......and he needed to realize that his younger brother WAS lost and NOW he was found! It was time to celebrate!!!
Once again, we see that God and the father in this parable gave the young man a second chance!
God is the God of second chances!!!

We had three students out this morning with fever, etc.....plus Ms. Corrina went home with fever as well. We prayed for everyone during our prayer time.
Up until the last week or so, Ms. Corrina or I had always taken turns praying in our prayer circle. It has been the coolest thing.....the kids are raising their hands and wanting to take a turn praying each morning! Their prayers are so pure and straight to the point.
Oh......to have childlike faith!

JCA Day 26 Applebees!

Well......this picture was really dark. I tried to remove it, but couldn't figure it out so..... here it is. You can hardly tell, but we are just in our classroom before our field trip to APPLEBEES!
Here we are walking into Applebees for our tour. We are SO excited!
Did you know that there are 1900 Applebees worldwide.....second only to McDonald's??? And... every Applebees has a carousel horse! So when you go in any Applebees, look for their signature carousel horse! And....this is Dustin, the manager of Applebees in Hobbs. He was really nice to us!
We were given a grand tour of the kitchen. Applebees in Hobbs serves 300 people per day! Can you believe that????
Their dishwasher cost $9000!
It was just under 50 degrees in their refrigerator, but by the time we left the walk-in frig, we could have sworn it was at least 20 below! BRRRRRRR!
The kids were given their own menus to color with crayons, and then they also drew and colored their own pictures. The pictures were supposed to have something to do with apples. We have talked about apples all week because tomorrow is Johnny Appleseed's birthday and that is why we chose to go to APPLEbees this week. The pictures will be displayed on the their wall for a couple of weeks.
We ONLY had tea, water, or soda........promise!
The food was great, Dustin gave the kids each a goodie sack to take home, and Applebees gave JCA a bag full of crayons, construction paper, scissors, glue, stickers, and all kinds of "school stuff." We had a great time!
Hopefully, we know a little bit more about the restaurant business as well!
Back at school, we made finger puppets. Each puppet represented a child from a different country. Then we sang "Jesus Loves the Little Children." You know..... red, brown, yellow, black, and white.....they are precious in his sight.
Jesus loves all the children in the world!
They are truly precious!
It was shopping day!!!
Henrietta is spending this weekend with Mr. Brady Bean!!!
Have a great weekend everyone!

JCA Day 25 Zippy and Gadget visit

Miss Sadie brought Zippy and Gadget to PE today!
They're in there somewhere!
Oh......how sweet......or maybe stinky???
AAAWWWW......yes......this is more like it!
Sweet doggies.......sweet kid0s!
This week we broke the kids into three groups for centers. This is the Red Group. They are working with Ms. Crill on folder games. It could be math, language arts, or science.
This is the Green Group. They are at the art center.
This is the Blue Group. They are working on the computers with Ms. Corrina.
Each group will get a chance at each center each day we do centers. They attend each center for approximately 20 minutes, then rotate to the next center.
Our cotton ball jar is getting more and more empty! Cotton balls are removed for the classroom good behavior. We counted today and found out there were only 22 cotton balls left!
When is it completely empty, we GET A PIZZA PARTY!!!!! We can smell it already!

We are so excited about tomorrow. We have a field trip to Applebees in the morning!!!
