Learn Something New Today

Great news!!  I received a notification that the laptops are on their way!  I am SO excited about having these laptops for the kids!  I've even been investigating some really awesome websites (that are free) for them that have interactive reading and math games.  Cigi and Sadie both have laptops (my computer is on the blink) and I can sit for quite some time on one of their computers searching for and playing Kindergarten games.  They are even MORE excited than I am that the laptops are on their way because then I will  have one of my own!  Which brings me to the next situation.......these are Mac computers which are really different from what I am used to!  How many of you have noticed all the new words we have now......like IPOD, Mac, MP3.......not to mention even words like internet, blogging, twittering, and texting.  I mean when I grew up we did not have those words.....and there are many more words we could add to this list!  My point is that things definitely change!  And.....we have to learn new things like how to work all these new fandangled technical "things"!  However difficult that may be (I know both of my girls are dreading the upcoming teaching time on how to operate a Mac), we always need to be lifelong learners.  Whether it is comprehension skills, "new" math, the Word of God, or operating a Mac, we need to be constantly learning! I am betting that the Kindergarten students absolutely LOVE the Mac, and I also bet they catch on amazingly quick and will be teaching me things before long!  Learn something new today!

Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes

Okay!  This is so cool.......so far!  I have heard that some are having a bit of trouble commenting.  Keep trying because three people have commented and it worked, so since I'm really not very "technical," I have no idea how to help you!

I did want to comment on "nothing changes if nothing changes!"  This is a quote from Joyce Meyer, and it is SO true.  So many times we wish something would change.  Well, if nothing changes, then nothing changes.  If there is something that we want to be different, we must make some kind of change.  For many years, I just wished we had a Christian school at CJC.  Of course, there has also been lots of prayer devoted to it as well, but I sure wished it was already in place.  But, other than pray occasionally, I really did nothing to start the ball rolling.  I always thought we would have to have a building in place and teachers hired, etc. etc. Then back in October, I just felt so strongly that God showed me we could start with the facility we already have and with the people we have!  Boy, did things begin to change!  Phone calls, advisory board, research about private Christian schools, a survey.........and now in a little less than two months school will start!  Is God good or what????  Something had to change.  The wishing had to stop!  Now, I don't suggest jumping off that limb without God, but when you know He has laid something on your heart, I think it's good to step out and test the water.  Otherwise, nothing changes if nothing changes!

My First Blog

Oh My.......My First Blog!
Junction Christian Academy is officially blogging! Cigi suggested this, and I hesitantly agreed. However, I do believe it is going to be a fantastic way to keep up with everything that is going on with JCA! And speaking of everything that is going on at JCA.....Things are popping and happening! The fundraiser was a tremendous success! It was held on May 30th, Susie Luchsinger performed, there was a great crowd, Chris Seed did his thing with auctioning, and just over $15,000 was raised for the school! Praise God! The JCA office is set up and actually functioning. Office supplies and furniture have been ordered, five student laptops (MacBooks) have been ordered and an Elmo, and I am now in the process of ordering curriculum. Margo and I took a trip to Roswell to an Abeka curriculm display, looked through every single book, and we were even more impressed with Abeka than we already were! We are planning for 15 students.
Again, I hope this will be a great source of information for you so remember to check in often. Comment so I know someone is reading this! And, also know that if you need to reach me, my email is crillallen@yahoo.com and my cell is 631-2435.
