Veterans, Tasty Treats, Measuring, & Ethnic Foods

One more AMAZING week at JCA!
MANY things going on!!!

Five veterans visited us on Veterans' Day!
One of them had served in the army, and five of them served in the Marines.
One of them was a sniper and one of them operated a gun while riding on
the side of a helicopter!
LOTS of good questions from the kids.
We said the pledge and then had a word of prayer.
They explained what each fold meant when folding up a flag into a triangle.
The folded flag is then presented to a fallen soldier's family at the funeral.
We learned so much about the flag and how we need to respect it.
We also learned about "retired" flags and how they are disposed of ...
respectfully!

Next, Ms. Shelley invited our friend, Shannon, to give a presentation
on seeds, stems, leaves, & roots and some of the foods we eat!
There were oranges....
snow peas.....
carrots, radishes, lettuce, celery, & asparagus!
Then everyone was allowed to TASTE!
YUMMY!!!

Ms. Michelle's class worked on measurement and magnetism!
Must have been the week of letter "M"!
Each student was measured.....

Then, they worked on magnetism.....
Performing an experiment to see what objects are actually
MAGNETIZED!
They ALL know!!!

Ms. Maggi's class has had quite a bit of food experimenting going on!
This picture is actually from pumpkin week....
They made and ate pumpkin soup!
This week the 4th and 5th graders brought ethnic food!
There was food from Germany & China.....
France & others!!!!
What a great experience to taste foods from other countries!

AWESOME week!!!!
Thanksgiving Feast is just around the corner!
