RACHEL'S CHALLENGE

JCA has accepted "Rachel's Challenge"!! This is an anti-bullying program based on kindness and compassion.  Rachel Scott was the first student shot and killed at the Columbine school in Colorado. The elementary program does not talk about Rachel's death or how she died.  Instead, it focuses on her life and how she lived.  We are all pumped about implementing this program at JCA, and are hoping we start a chain reaction in our county!!

This is Adam, he flew in from Colorado for the kick-off of Rachel's challenge.  He spoke about Rachel, and also about the steps of the challenge.

1) Choose positive influences, including your friends, movies, books, music, and role models.
2) Keep a journal or a diary.
3) Write down your goals.
4) Use kind words and little acts of kindness.
5) Accept and include other people.

Bullying is an epidemic in our nation.  At JCA the students, staff and parents all agree that this is unacceptable.  We will be proactive in preventing these behaviors in our school.
