We started the day by learning about Jesus' death.
He was beaten and then hung on a cross.
When he became thirsty, they gave him vinegar for his lips.
We DID NOT like the smell of vinegar!!!
Read John 19:28-30...it tells about the vinegar.
John 19:1-3 tells about how he was beaten.
We broke up pecans with a wooden spoon to represent how they beat Jesus.
Eggs represent life.
We used three egg whites and read John 10:10-11 which tells how Jesus gave his life to us!
Next, we tasted salt.
The salt represents the bitterness of sin, as well as, the tears shed by his followers.
We read Luke 23:27.
Next, it was time to add the sugar which is the sweetest part of the story.
He died because He loves us.
We recited John 3:16 that says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son,
so that, whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
Each one of us took a turn using the mixer to beat the egg whites.
We folded in the pecans......
While we were waiting, Stewy's mom, Ms. Lorna, gave us caps,.....
flags and stickers from Canada!
We love Ms. Lorna!!!
Pastor Ty sang the National Anthem of Canada for us!
How does he know that????
Anyway.....we dropped the mixture by spoonfuls.......each one representing the
tomb where they laid Jesus' body.
We read Matthew 27:57-60.
We placed the "tombs" in the oven and then sealed it with tape.
We read Matthew 27:65-66 which tells how the tomb was sealed.
We finally took the cookies out of the oven and found that the cookies were hollow
inside which represents the empty tomb after Jesus rose.
We read Matthew 28:1-9 which speaks of Jesus' rise from the dead.
We are all SO grateful that Jesus willingly died for us........
for forgiveness of our sin and for salvation and everything that means!
Jesus is ALIVE! And He lives in our hearts!
We have also been talking about the life cycle of the butterfly.
There are four stages: Egg, Larva (Caterpillar), Pupa (Chrysallis) and Adult (Butterfly)!
