JCA Day 63 Gummy Bears

Gummy bears starts with "G"!
We all had a package of gummy bears......
First we sorted them into colors........
Then, we counted how many in each color........
Then we wrote down how many we had in each color.......
Then, we counted how many we had altogether.......
Then.....we made a BAR GRAPH!!!
Each color had it's own row.....
Here is one of our bar graphs!

Fire Chief McPeters came today, and we had a fire drill....
New record....we cleared the building in 15 seconds!!!

Today, we worked on the letter "R".....
We worked on phonics, rhyming, and opposites with our file folders......
And number games on the computers!

Tons of fun in P.E. today!!!!

We even had time for a Christmas craft this afternoon.....
We made a holly wreath......
They turned out really cool!

It was a great day at JCA!
We even had our morning recess OUTSIDE! YEA!
We caught up quite a bit on some of the lessons we missed this last week.....
AND....we talked about how Gabriel came to Mary and told her she was going to have a
baby, and she should name him Jesus.
We learned how Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem, how there was no room in the inn, and how Jesus was laid in the manger.

We're excited about celebrating Jesus' birthday!

JCA Day 62 What a Day!

Well......the day started out great!
We went through our morning routine with our pledges, prayer time,
place value, counting, reading sentences, finding star words, and
reviewing the story about David and Goliath.
After snack time, we had our "recess" time where we sang The Roundup, Jesus is My Superhero, and I will Love the Lord.
We had so much fun with our motions to all of these songs!
We absolutely love singing and music.....
especially if there are motions to go along with it!!!!

Then we worked on our phonics lessons and math lesson.

After lunch, our science lesson was, again, about the seasons.
We read a great book explaining why we have seasons.
In this picture, Hannah R. represents the sun and Hannah M. represents Earth.
We discussed how the sun stays in one spot and the Earth revolves around the sun while rotating. What causes seasons is the tilt of the Earth. Here Hannah M. is tilting away from the sun.....the star on her shirt is the United States, so right now it's winter in the US.
In this picture, Earth is tilting toward the sun, therefore, it is summer in the US.
(we are ready for summer, by the way, so we could have a little warmth).....
Following this demonstration, we went into our small group times which included computers, a math lesson, and an activity on seasons. We did not get very far into this when our electricity happened to go out!
We had to call parents and head home. What a miserably windy day!
We are all looking forward to a better weather day tomorrow!

"G" is for Glasses!

"G" is for Glasses!
"G" is our letter this week.......
We had LOTS of fun making our glasses.....
Notice we all have mustaches........
We decided mustache starts with "M"!
What a good lookin' bunch!
We had fun at recess INSIDE today.....
We made a train......
It was cold outside, but we had too much fun anyway!

It was a short day.....started with a delay....just being on the safe side.
Today we learned about the giant, Goliath (both start with "G").
He was almost 9 feet tall and really strong. David, the shepherd boy,
took him out with a sling and a stone!
He knew he could do it because he had already taken out a lion and a bear!

We worked on our phonics.....sounding out words (boy, we're getting good at it, too!)
We added, counted by 5's and 10's, read the number words, and all kinds of "math stuff."

We have had an issue with our heater. In order to get it fixed once and for all, we have to cancel school for the next two days because they have to shut it completely down to replace parts, and then when they turn it back on, the building has to be unoccupied for 24 hours for safety reasons. So.....we will be back in school on Tuesday!
Stay warm!

God EVEN made a donkey talk!
That probably means He could use us!!!

We made Indian vests.......
And an Indian headress with feathers.......
And......we did an Indian dance wearing our vests and feathers!!!

Next......Pilgrims appeared as well!

The men Pilgrims wore men Pilgrim hats!
The Indians and Pilgrims will share a Thanksgiving feast together next Tuesday!

Today was our field trip to THE DONUT SHOP.....
DAYLIGHT DONUTS!!!

We found out how to make Donut holes!
AND DONUTS!!!
It was LOTS of fun!
Everyone who wanted to

To try to make donuts!
You can make ALOT
