JCA Pancakes!!!!!

Welllllllll..........
Busy Day + Sinus Medication = Blog being loaded backwards!
Here we are using the Elmo to watch a Brainpop Movie on
the plant life cycle!
We made pancakes today, but the pictures are backwards.....so........
Jo'Claire really enjoyed her pancakes!
They were yummy!
TASTY!!!
They LOOKED good!
We saw how they bubbled on one side.....

The batter sizzled when it was poured in!
Didn't look too tasty here......
Or here!

The reason we made pancakes is because we have been reviewing the letter "a" this week.
"Pan" has a short "a" in it......
and "cake" has a long "a" in it (with a sneaky "e').
Not only that, but the word pancake is a compound word...
which means two little words got together to form one bigger word!

JCA We Still Say the Pledge!!!

We start every morning with the Pledge of Allegiance and........
the pledge to the Christian Flag......
We also say the pledge to the Bible.......and......
We have a prayer time!

At center time today..........we played a game.....
listening for the vowel sound in the middle of the word!

We cut out clocks and told the time with them.....
We also had computer time, math center, and reading time!

Ms. Shannon came today and brought a really awesome game for us!
We rolled dice and moved our bean bags.....
THEN.....we did whatever exercise the bean bag was on!
We worked ourselves OUT!
It was TOO much fun!!!

This week we are reviewing Adam.
God created everything.....land, seas, birds, fish, sun, moon, stars, animals.....
and then Adam! And then Eve.....
God gave him three jobs: take care of the garden, name the animals.....
and make sure Eve was obedient to God!
Well, Eve was not obedient to God....the serpent convinced her to eat the apple
from the tree that they were not supposed to eat from.
Sin entered the world, and Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden.
But God still loved them and provided for them!
And HE loves us, too!

JCA Megaphones, Purple Eggs, Jelly Beans, Egg Plants, Ladybugs.....

All week we've been talking about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
Today, we discussed the Great Commission. He told us to go tell others about Him and
what He's done for us!!!
So......we made megaphones so we could spread the GOOD NEWS!!!

Next, we had eggs because we were doing a project with the shells.
Not wanting to waste the eggs.......
We made PURPLE scrambled eggs!!!!
Purple ? Just because!
They were still YUMMY!!!

Everyone looked really spiffy today because of the Easter program....
Just had to have a picture of that!!!

We used those egg shells to make "plant holders"......
We've been talking about life cycles and new life lately....
Eggs represent new life....
So.....we planted a bean in our eggs.
Hopefully, the bean will sprout, and we will have a new plant life!!!

Next......we had JELLY BEANS!!!
We titled and labled our graph.....
Separated the jelly beans......
Counted and colored.....
And we made a Jelly Bean Graph!!!

We are studying the life cycle of the ladybug.....
We have LOTS of ladybugs to observe!!!
Did you know that ladybugs are female AND male???

Speaking of new life.....
We checked on our garden today to make sure it was still alive and surviving all the wind!
It's looking pretty good! We may have to pull some weeds next week!

Pastor Ty treated us to a surprise today!
He performed a human video for us!
The song was by Carmen....."Sunday's on the Way".....
It's about how Jesus rose from the dead......the grave could not hold Him!!!
It was Way TOO Cool!

We failed to get pictures of the program! We did film it so will try to upload.....
The play focused on the fact that Jesus IS ALIVE! They did a super job... remembered
their lines and what to do! Miss Talia did a great job with them!
We watched a "pre-play" video of their rehearsals.......too cute!
They recited Psalm 23:1-6 with motions! (SO proud of them!)
And then.....they sang "Love the Lord Your God"......Awesome!

It was an AMAZING week at JCA!
Only six weeks of school left.......unbelievable!

JCA Resurrection and Exercise!!!

We discussed the resurrection again today.....
The BEST thing that happened is that Jesus rose from the grave!
HE IS ALIVE!!!

Ms. Shannon came to see us today.....
We played all kinds of fun games......
They were good for our listening skills.......
And they were good for our exercise!!!
We learned about all kinds of muscles.....
biceps, triceps, traps, gas (wondered about that one) but those are our calf
muscles!!! We learned about stretching......
And we learned about eating a GOOD breakfast.
It's brain food......it helps us think and learn better!

Tomorrow is our Easter program at 2:30!!!
Come join us!

JCA Jesus is ALIVE!!!

We started the day by learning about Jesus' death.
He was beaten and then hung on a cross.
When he became thirsty, they gave him vinegar for his lips.
We DID NOT like the smell of vinegar!!!
Read John 19:28-30...it tells about the vinegar.
John 19:1-3 tells about how he was beaten.
We broke up pecans with a wooden spoon to represent how they beat Jesus.
Eggs represent life.
We used three egg whites and read John 10:10-11 which tells how Jesus gave his life to us!
Next, we tasted salt.
The salt represents the bitterness of sin, as well as, the tears shed by his followers.
We read Luke 23:27.
Next, it was time to add the sugar which is the sweetest part of the story.
He died because He loves us.
We recited John 3:16 that says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son,
so that, whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
Each one of us took a turn using the mixer to beat the egg whites.

We folded in the pecans......
While we were waiting, Stewy's mom, Ms. Lorna, gave us caps,.....
flags and stickers from Canada!
We love Ms. Lorna!!!
Pastor Ty sang the National Anthem of Canada for us!
How does he know that????
Anyway.....we dropped the mixture by spoonfuls.......each one representing the
tomb where they laid Jesus' body.
We read Matthew 27:57-60.
We placed the "tombs" in the oven and then sealed it with tape.
We read Matthew 27:65-66 which tells how the tomb was sealed.
We finally took the cookies out of the oven and found that the cookies were hollow
inside which represents the empty tomb after Jesus rose.
We read Matthew 28:1-9 which speaks of Jesus' rise from the dead.
We are all SO grateful that Jesus willingly died for us........
for forgiveness of our sin and for salvation and everything that means!
Jesus is ALIVE! And He lives in our hearts!

We have also been talking about the life cycle of the butterfly.
There are four stages: Egg, Larva (Caterpillar), Pupa (Chrysallis) and Adult (Butterfly)!
